Expert psychological help and support for first responders and the wider community
Responder Psychology is a Melbourne, Australia based psychology service specialising in providing support and assistance to first responders and the wider community.
Dr Megan Dobbie is a Clinical Psychologist and Board Approved Supervisor and has over 25 years of experience treating trauma. She is also currently the Mental Health Lead on the Monash University Paramedic Health and Wellbeing Research Unit.
She has provided psychological care to first responders for over 17 years. Over this time, she has supported first responders to return to the work that they love to do, with improved skills and strategies to cope with the operational environments that are part of their daily work.
Megan only uses evidenced based care to support her clients in their recovery. The type of care you will receive will depend on your individual assessment and presentation. In addition, Megan’s approach is practical, with an in-depth understanding of your working environment and workplace culture as first responders, and focuses on skills training with your individual end-goal always the forefront of treatment planning and delivery.
Megan is trained in EMDR and EMDR-PRECI which is a specific type of EMDR for recent critical incident exposure. Megan provides specialist consultancy around Mental Wellbeing Strategy and Planning for organisations big and small, and professional development for companies with a particular focus on understanding vicarious trauma in professions such as legal environments, acute health care settings, and employee support for responding to critical incidents workplace employees are exposed to.
Megan is a Board Approved Supervisor with the Psychological Board of Australia and has a Specialist Endorsement in Clinical Psychology. You can View Dr Megan Dobbie’s Linked in profile here.
Dobbie Consultancy Services was born out of agencies asking for Megan’s expertise to be applied to their people and their workplaces. This recognition has come from her tireless work in and around hospital and emergency services settings and her commitment to providing the best care to members of the community that she works with. Working with first responders in particular requires an understanding of the operational and culture of the environments in which our first responders are exposed and work in, for the most part happily every day, to support our communities. As a result, and because of her passion and expertise in the first responder mental health and wellbeing areas, Megan has opened her consultancy business to taking therapy referrals. Prior to working for a major Victorian Emergency Service, Megan has always operated a successful private practice, and with the need in the community for psychological services increasing, she has opened her private practice books again.
